WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS TO YOGA?

There are so many benefits physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually from practicing yoga, to name a few:

  • Connection between body and mind

  • Connection with your inner self, especially if you're feeling a little lost or out of touch with yourself

  • Brings calm, grounding and quiet to overactive, anxious, busy minds

  • Help to build muscle strength & increases flexibility over time

  • Relaxes the parasympathetic nervous system (our rest and digest system, the opposite of our fight and flight system)

  • Boosts immunity

  • Improves balance

  • Improves sleep

  • Bringing together a community of supportive yogis

  • Encourages self care - something I think we all need to prioritise!

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO CLASS?

Whatever is comfortable for you and allows you to move freely and easily, be that gym leggings, harem pants, shorts etc. There is no dress code for yoga classes, just make sure you are able to move with ease. I always advise bringing something warm for savasana at the end of class. If you're attending a Zoom class just have something warm and snuggly nearby that you can grab for savasana.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING TO CLASS?

For both in person classes and Zoom classes, please make sure you have a yoga mat. Exercise mats are also ok for our yoga practice, however please bear in mind they may be too thick/thin. I can recommend some great companies to order yoga mats from if you need to find a new mat or replace your old one. We may use yoga blocks/bricks during some classes but these will be provided and cleaned before and after use. If you have your own block/brick that supports your yoga practice I encourage you to bring this with you to class. I will let you know ahead of class if there is anything else you need to bring, such as a blanket, cushion or pillows.

CAN I PRACTICE YOGA?

Of course! I strongly believe in making yoga accessible for all regardless of gender, age, body shape, race, fitness ability etc.  You don't have to be flexible to practice yoga!

If you have any injuries/health conditions that may affect your practice, please do get in touch so we can discuss this prior to class so I have the knowledge of what's going on in your body to make your practice just as accessible.

If you are currently pregnant please speak to me prior to booking a class.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT AT YOUR CLASSES?

Each class I teach is themed - for example Yoga Calm is a class that is focused on calming and soothing the mind,. Please visit my "Classes" page for a breakdown of each class I offer.

The yoga I teach is Vinyasa style yoga, which means our flows are dynamic and fluid. In our classes we will explore pranayama (breathing techniques), meditation and asana (yoga poses) themed with each class.
